That is something I sometimes ask myself. Each year, my mileage has varied.
At the start of my cycling, I was getting a lot of mileage in for myself when I could. I would generally aim for about 4,000 miles each year, and working in Memphis, this certainly helped for getting on the group rides at couple of times after work during the week. And always enjoying a longer ride on Saturday, and sometime a short Sunday afternoon ride.
After 2017, and a couple of life events, I changed from group rides to mainly solo rides where I could go at my pace, where I want, have the ability to change the route at a moments notice, and to drink coffee!
A change in job in 2022 also changed how many miles I was doing due to not working in Memphis anymore and not being close to any safe bicycle routes.
